This week we proudly join communities and organisations across the country in marking National Inclusion Week. For us at Bradford Hate Crime Alliance, inclusion is not a one-week commitment but the heart of everything we do to challenge hate, support victims, and build stronger, safer communities.

The theme for this year, “Now is the Time”, is a call to action. It reminds us that inclusion cannot wait for tomorrow — it must happen today. Now is the time to listen to those who are marginalised. Now is the time to challenge prejudice when we see it. Now is the time to create spaces where people of every race, faith, disability, sexuality, gender identity, and background can truly belong.

Inclusion is about more than recognising diversity. It is about making sure every voice is heard and valued, and that barriers are actively removed. At BHCA, we see daily the impact that hate and exclusion can have. We also see the power of communities coming together to stand up for one another, and the positive change that grows from collective action.

Through our training, awareness sessions, reporting centres, and partnerships, we are working to ensure that inclusion becomes a lived reality, not just an aspiration. But this work is not ours alone. It belongs to all of us. Every person has a role to play in creating a culture where difference is respected and celebrated.

As we mark National Inclusion Week, we encourage everyone in Bradford and beyond to reflect and act. Whether it’s by challenging harmful language, supporting a colleague, checking in on a neighbour, or speaking out against hate — your actions matter.

Now is the time to stand together. Now is the time to build inclusion. Now is the time to make change happen.
