Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) a day to honour transgender people who have lost their lives to hate and violence.
What began in 1999 as a small community vigil is now a global moment of reflection. It’s a time to acknowledge the impact of transphobia, discrimination and exclusion, and to stand with those who continue to face it.
At BHCA, we recognise that hate against transgender and gender-diverse people remains a serious issue. Hate crime is not just the incident itself it’s the fear, silence and withdrawal that follow. No one should feel unsafe because of who they are.
This day reminds us that awareness is only the starting point. We all have a role in shaping a community where transgender people are respected, protected and heard.
