October is Black History Month, a time to reflect, celebrate, and acknowledge the impact of Black people across society.
At Bradford Hate Crime Alliance, we see every day how diversity strengthens our city. Black History Month gives us the chance to shine a light on the stories, resilience, and achievements of Black communities here in Bradford and across the UK.
It is also a reminder of the discrimination and hate that still exists. Hate crime continues to target people because of the colour of their skin, their culture, or their heritage.
This October, BHCA will:
-
Share stories of local history and voices from Black communities.
-
Continue delivering awareness and training sessions tackling racism and hate.
-
Work with partners to promote equality and respect across the district.
There are also a wide range of events and activities happening across Bradford throughout October. You can view the full programme here Bradford Black History Month 2025 Programme LwRes V2
We encourage everyone to take part through conversation, learning, and celebration. Black history is Bradford’s history, and together we can build a city free from hate.
