Bi Visibility Day 2026: Celebrating Visibility, Inclusion and Equality
23 September 2026 marks Bi Visibility Day, an international awareness day dedicated to celebrating bisexual people, raising awareness of bisexuality and highlighting the experiences, achievements and contributions of the bi+ community. The day has been observed globally since 1999 and aims to increase understanding while challenging prejudice and discrimination.
At Bradford Hate Crime Alliance (BHCA), we believe that everyone has the right to live free from hatred, discrimination and fear. We stand alongside our bisexual community and reaffirm our commitment to promoting equality, inclusion and respect for all.
Unfortunately, many bisexual people continue to experience discrimination, stereotypes and misunderstanding. Some face verbal abuse, online harassment, bullying or violence because of their sexual orientation or because of assumptions others make about them. These behaviours can have a significant impact on a person’s wellbeing, confidence and sense of belonging.
Hate crime has no place in our communities. If someone is targeted because of their actual or perceived sexual orientation, this may constitute a hate crime or hate incident and should be reported. No one should feel isolated or afraid to seek support.
BHCA works closely with partners across the Bradford district to:
- Raise awareness of hate crime.
- Support victims and witnesses.
- Encourage reporting through safe and accessible routes.
- Promote communities where everyone feels respected, valued and included.
On this Bi Visibility Day, we encourage everyone to:
- Celebrate diversity and inclusion.
- Challenge myths, stereotypes and prejudice.
- Stand against hate in all its forms.
- Support friends, colleagues, family members and neighbours who may be affected by discrimination.
- Speak up and report hate crime if you witness or experience it.
Together, we can build a Bradford where everyone—regardless of their sexual orientation or identity—feels safe, respected and able to be themselves.
